Asia is one of the most diverse areas of the world when it comes to religion and spirituality. It is from the religions that were developed that people can become more spiritual, following the different practices and beliefs. For example, you have probably heard of Hinduism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism, all of which have produced well over 1 billion followers worldwide. These religions are very different from Western religion, and therefore the spiritual beliefs of those that are followers look at the world, and the afterlife, in completely different ways.

Understanding Asian Spirituality

Unlike Western religions which believe that you will die and go to heaven, or possibly to send into hell, neither of these concepts are found within the context of Asian religions. In fact, most of them believe that there are multiple dimensions, places that people will go, and that you can also reincarnate. Their view of the world is also very different from Western religious beliefs. For example, in Buddhism, life is viewed as suffering whereas in Taoism, it’s all about having a union with nature. The spiritual beliefs of those in Asia may be very different from Western thought, but they are still related in similar ways. The ultimate goal of all people that are spiritual is to become more balanced as a human being, preparing themselves for whatever lies after death in the afterlife.
